POWER MUTATION

2018-2019

This sugar mural began during the one-month long Symposium international d’art contemporain de Baie-Saint-Paul, but the work did not end after this residency.
”Power Mutation” shows what happens as power evolves and corrupts, with layers of piped icing continuing to build on the surface, dripping down to create sugar stalactites and stalagmites. On top of the towering columns is a corroded sugar teapot, tipped, and ready to pour. It was presented in this evolved form at the Ateliers Jean Brillant in Montreal at the exhibition “Intersections”, a group show of 13 artists from the 2018 edition of the Symposium international d’art contemporain de Baie-Saint-Paul, originally curated by Sylvie Lacerte.
