TWO SIDES TO EVERY STORY

2008

Created during a one-month residency at the Harmony Art Foundation Sculpture Symposium in Navi Mumbai, India.
This car, made with a team of traditional basket weavers, was made in bamboo and covered on one side with piped icing. It represents the Nano car, marketed in India as “The people’s car” bringing an affordable car to the middle class masses. This sculpture presents the Nano for what it is: a “sugar-coated” façade for the struggling lower classes.
