After much delay and waiting for landscaping, the sculpture is finally installed and ready for public viewing! The official inauguration of the school was held on October 24th. If you’re ever in Montreal, come by for a look. It’s visible from the sidewalk and bike path at 1922 de Maisonneuve West (formerly the old Victoria School).

My current project is a public art commission with the Montreal School Board (Commission scolaire de Montréal) for a refurbished school in the heart of downtown Montreal.
The new École des métiers du tourisme will be housed in the old Victoria School building on de Maisonneuve and St. Marc.
Here is a tiny styrofoam maquette of the design:

The sculpture will be 9 feet high (9 feet diameter) and made in concrete. The texture and relief of the tree growth rings and the bark will all be made with the impression and relief of actual books
