Quilt Project completion in-studio

The 5 mosaics destined for Centre d’accueil Marcelle-Ferron are now grouted and mounted on panels.
Some pieces have bits of tape or markings on them: this is just for the installation prep.

5 Mosaics for Centre d’accueil Marcelle-Ferron…. continued…

The 5 mosaics are finally complete, so now the mortering and grouting stage is underway. We’re installing each mosaic onto panels in our studio before they get installed on the walls, in their final destination.

Public Art Commission for Centre d’accueil Marcelle-Ferron (Brossard, Quebec)

This MCCCF public art commission (Quebec percent for art program) is for a seniors centre on Montreal’s South Shore. The artwork consists of 5 separate designs, one for each floor of the 5-storey addition to the existing centre. Each design, blending traditional quilt designs and geometric abstraction, will be fabricated in ceramic. The final pieces will be approx. 50″ x 50″. They are being fabricated at Mosaika Art & Design in Montreal.
These images are of the early stages of the design and the ceramic and mosaic fabrication.
